The day after the siblings visit

All at once, the house is eerie silent and empty with just the two of us now.

28 days seem long to host some guests but with siblings, it is far too short. Time has flown so fast. It is as if we were not oceans apart, we just picked up very quickly from where we left of. We were reliving those times we were children. Nothing much has changed. The jokes, banter and stories were not much different. Only our looks, movement and topics of conversation changed but still the same “us” inside those older bodies. We are not good at good byes. We hate farewells but when you get to read messages from the children in the Philippines , you know it is time to go back home. One message read: “Sa aming mga magulang na naglayas ng isang buwan, hindi na kami galit, umuwi na kayo! P.S. basta may pasalubong heh heh heh. “

It will take some time to get adjusted without our sibling guests. I must say that my wife Becky is the perfect host and sister in law. I could not thank her enough and ask for more. She is genuinely loved by my siblings not just for her generosity but being a real sister to them. The “in law” tag does not do justice and does not come close at all.

Why do we take pains chronicling this trip? The unsaid message here but hopefully aptly demonstrated is love for family. Our audience is primarily our children. We are hoping the North American culture has not totally rubbed on them. We pray and hope that when we are gone, they will remain close to each other and no matter how time and distance pull them apart, they will always love and respect each other notwithstanding differences in status and put family always first!
