It is amazing to see pinoys from all walks of life coming from all over the world. We were all strangers as we entered the stadium but it was seemingly startling how you could almost sense instantly who your kababayans are and by the time the fight started, we were already like brothers in arms chanting in unison- "Manny!, Manny! , Manny!" . Sometimes, you wonder how come we cannot be this united when it pertains to the affairs of a Nation? Well, that is food for thought and a subject worth exploring some future time. Boxing is really a bloody sport and from where we sat, you could almost hear ribs cracking and see the blood spurting from Margarito's cheek. It is gory sight to behold - like the past gladiators fighting to death. In a sense, it is really a fight for survival but perhaps on a different level. For a lot of fighters, this is their way out from grinding poverty - a fight for survival in the economic sense. Manny is quite the epitome of rags to riches. He has become the pinoy icon of success. He is an inspiration to any aspiring pinoy and we will continue to cheer for him since in a way, we are cheering for ourselves! A lot of Filipino celebrities were at the ringside. Becky was star struck and managed to pose with Derek Ramsey and Mateo G=Agua Bendita Teleserye stars. I just contented myself with the others like Emmanuel Steward, a hall of famer trainer and HBO boxing commentator. The euphoria did not end at the Cowboys Stadium as it continued at the Gaylord Texan Hotel where we stayed and where both Pacquiao and Margarito were likewise billeted. We were trying to see if we can have another look at Pacquiao again but unfortunately Team Pacquiao went through another entrance and straight to their rooms. We just had to satisfy ourselves for a while and hang out around the lobby like the other guests waiting for some celebrity to show up like some Mexican prize fighters and the Filipina who sang the Philippine national anthem. Manny Pacquiao made us tall and truly proud to be a pinoy. He has shown every Filipino that they too can achieve their dreams whatever status of life they came from. Like many other gifted Filipinos, any Pinoy can be the best and excel in any field of their choice!
