What an amazing weekend at CFC’s Calgary conference! One of the main speakers – Melo Villaroman quoted T.S. Eliot’s “We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time” How true indeed! We thought we have heard most of the talks in the past but as we listened to the speakers and sharers, the impact of hearing them had the same enthralling and nourishing effect like a first time. The Lord has effectively used them to make us realize that He has poured fullness in our lives and it is with thanksgiving that we receive them. The Lord has showered us with so many blessings and it is with gratitude and humility that we pay these blessings forward to others.
Like many CFC gatherings with brothers and sisters, fun is synonymous with CFC fellowship. Our side trip to Banff was refreshing and a timely respite from the daily grind. It seems that the beauty of God’s creations is everywhere in Canada. And who can resist the lure of the Calgary stampede and soon in the future, the biggest mall in the world – CrossIrons? The conference ended at about noon time and off we went in our modern chariots to the Calgary stampede. Instantly, we were transformed into cowboys (girls) but our husbands were more like “kawawang cowboy – may bulsa walang pera, walang baril, walang bala” ha ha ha ha… Along the way as we got into the Stampede Park, we saw Pro Life activists with their placards depicting aborted fetuses. We had to approach them and offered our words of encouragement. We were greeted almost like long lost comrades in arms. It is astonishing sometimes, how small gestures of support go a long way to reinforce and validate causes people believe in.
We girls, however have to go to CrossIrons – there is no way we will miss it before flying to Vancouver. We told our husbands, there was so much savings we generated with all the “Sale” discounts but they seem not convinced (or as if we believe it ourselves, ha ha ha). We look at shopping like a glass half full but husbands see it half empty or at least until you shop for them. Anyway, here are some of the memories captured that we want to share with our friends.
