Nothing much on Day 4. It was just a leisurely treat, as we had a free day to do whatever we wanted. We decided to sleep-in and take the day slowly and lazily. After breakfast, we arranged with Andrei which tour we want to take tomorrow and got information on embarkation details for the start of our Viking River Cruise We walked to the adjacent supermarket for water, chips and chocolates. Evian water at the hotel was 32 lei (CAD$10.32 per bottle) and the taste was not as good as distilled water that they serve in the restaurants. We had to taste the Rom chocolates that Andrei suggested, as this was a Romanian favorite treat that was no longer manufactured when the war broke but produced again after the war. Our room faces the ongoing construction of the Romanian Orthodox Church, that was started years ago and construction still ongoing because of the controversy about funding. Romania is undoubtedly a very spiritual country where 4 of 5 belong to the Orthodox church. The fabric of many Romanian lives consists of religious rituals, icons and celebrations. However, questions are increasingly asked about the State’s funding of the new Cathedral which when finished will be the tallest church in Eastern Europe. We were awaken by a knock at the door around 2 pm by the hotel cleaner. Wow, time to wake up otherwise we will not be able to sleep again during the night. We then decided to have an early dinner inside our room and called room service.
