Butch and Becky

Day 3- Southeast Asian Cruise

Updated: Jan 18, 2021

We had an early breakfast today at 6:30 am to catch up wth the group leaving for Batu caves and a city tour of Kuala Lumpur. The roads leading to the city are like Manila except you are driving at the left side, driver at right side of the car and minus the traffic. Even the buildings and signs are very similar. The group hired 4 vehicles to bring us to the sites. The Ramirez family was so kind enough to allow us to take the six seater car. Becky was really grateful for the gesture as she has difficulty with her knees on cramped spaces with limited leg room. We rode with Elmer and Dang who were absolutely great companions in a tour. Our first stop was the famous Hindu Shrine Batu caves. Batu cave is a limestone hill located in Selangor, Malaysia. It is one of the more popular Hindu shrines outside of India and dedicated to Lord Marugan. There are 272 concrete steps leading up to the Temple Cave where several Hindu shrines are housed beneath its high vaulted ceiling. Becky had been craving for durian and lucky for her, the nearby market was selling them. We bought a whole fruit and so fresh, we finished it in no time. And soon after we started looking for the nearest CR and found one with no urinals and no door. Just a curtain to cover you. The call of nature will not wait so we had to make do with it.

Our next stop was the KL Tower. It was like the CN Tower in Toronto but only smaller. We decided to stay behind and waited in the car. We proceeded to the high rise KL City Centre where the upscale malls are. We had our lunch there and walked to the nearby Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest twin structure in the world. We had to rush back to the ship to catch the Captain’s ball. A dinner in formal attire and the chance to meet the ship captain. And as usual. We capped the night with a great show and this time - the Aussie Boys.
