Day 14 - Passage to Eastern Europe

Today we were in 3 countries- Hungary, Slovakia and Czech republics. We started in Budapest, passed by Bratislava and ended in Prague in Czech Republic. Prague is "the city of a hundred spires" and one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The tour guide mentioned that the city was spared from World War II and so all the buildings and structures are still intact in its old glory boasting of a multi-era architectural splendor. There were only 5 couples travelling to Prague today. The bus ride of 7 hours was comfortable and spacious with only 10 people on board the 49 seater bus. The seats were even adjustable sideways and has its own clean toilet. We passed by the city of Bratislava in Slovakia on our way to Prague. We had several stops and was able to see Bratislava's countryside through the highway. The city looks beautiful with the brick pinkish rooftops of the small houses but you can see the block pale-coloured buildings/ condominiums built during the communist regime. We arrived at the Hilton Prague Old Town. The location is fantastic, centrally located and a short walk to major tourist attractions, landmarks, shopping and restaurants. We went to the multi-story Palladium shopping complex and bought another suitcase. Just like in Vancouver, one must be ready with an umbrella as the rain can pour unexpectedly. Light rain greeted us as we left the shopping mall and walked back to the hotel. Today is officially our anniversary, spent mostly on the road but we had a very good dinner at the Zinc Restaurant in Hilton especially with the menu that boasts of an Asian theme that is so familiar to our taste...Marinara Seafood Soup, Nasi Goreng, Beef Steak and Dark and White Chocolate Mousse with Caramel Tarts and Passion Fruit. We need a good rest for the night as we prepare for another long day trip tomorrow at 5 am to Auschwitz, Poland. We are starting to miss home. Another 3 days we may see apo Braeden already.
