Day 11- Best of Northern Europe

Updated: Jan 18, 2021

Today was disembarkation day. We got through it in a breeze very similar to our experience when we checked in quickly and smoothly. We were out and on our way to our Hamburg hotel in 20 minutes. You would have thought you were in another cruise after going through that chaotic passport control situation and re-routing consequences during the cruise. We stayed upon arrival at the Leonardo Hotel Hamburg lobby as I had to rest my knees but the rest of the group immediately got off to a quick start checking out the nearby church (9 minutes walk from hotel) and wasted no time exploring the city of Hamburg. We were checked-in as soon as room was available at around 12:15 pm and had time to relax as we have already soaked-in the Hamburg experience before the cruise. We enjoyed the cruise in the company of our Abby brothers and sisters and will miss the never-ending banters, jokes and fun hanging out together and especially during all mealtimes. Bro Pat as usual was full of wit and humor and never a dull moment with everyone. This was our 6th trip to Europe but our excitement, joy and amazement have not diminished at all since this time, we saw it again through the eyes of our brothers and sisters. Hamburg is a major port city of Germany. It is also one of the great musical centers in Europe. Mick Jagger who is probably 74 now and the Rolling Stones had a concert here last week and they packed a stadium of 82,000 adoring fans. Already in their mid-seventies, they vowed to their cheering fans that they will continue performing. Perhaps, it is true that 60s is the new 40s. That gives us more time to do what we like best- travelling. And it will only get better like wine as we will be among friends and family. But there is one thing we are not good at - saying goodbyes and farewell and this is the part in Casablanca where we say. "here's looking at you kids".
