This is our last day in the cruise. We will be disembarking tomorrow in Hamburg, Germany. It has been an enjoyable trip with our brothers and sisters despite all the disarray in the ship. We continued to be pampered by our kababayan cook and servers. This time, we had Tapsilog for breakfast. And looking back, we thought we would be eating mostly pasta and pizza but our OFW kababayans saved the day and thinking about it, they are now actually everywhere especially in other cruise ships where they are your cooks, servers, room attendants, musicians, photographers, karaoke emcees and ship officers. We started travelling in the mid-80s and occasionally we got to meet kababayan OFWs but very often now in our recent travels. We heard their stories and sacrifices. Time has not made any difference. It is still for the same reason that they leave home to work i.e. to help their families. Whatever meager earnings they make, they send bulk of it to home. The OFW resiliency and sacrifices are incomparable. Truly, they are our modern day heroes. The ship is now at sea on its way back to Hamburg. We filled our time packing and going through the entertainment on board. We watched a short version of an Italian opera "la Traviata", a tragic love story that has melted the hearts of global audiences for 150 years. It was some kind of depressing but later in the evening, we were treated with a livelier, animated variety show. We went to dinner feeling better. After dinner, we will be tagging and putting our luggages outside our rooms for pick up. Tomorrow, we will gradually go back to our grinding realities.
